In a proactive move to address emerging security concerns across the Lekki Peninsula, the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) today paid a courtesy visit to the Garrison Commander, 81 Division Garrison Nigerian Army, Dodan Barracks, Ikoyi-Obalende.
The meeting, which focused on strengthening the synergy between residents and the military, came on the heels of growing public attention to the population explosion on the Lekki Peninsula and the security implications.
Leading the LERSA delegation, the Association’s President, Alhaji (Chief) Sulyman Bello, commended the Nigerian Army for its professional conduct and consistent presence in the area. He described the visit as a strategic step toward building a more responsive and community-centered security framework.
Hon. Prince Adewale Taorid Ojora, Chairman of the LERSA Security Committee, briefed the Commander on ongoing local security arrangements and identified specific areas where military support could bolster existing efforts. He stressed the importance of timely intelligence sharing and joint patrols.
In response, Brigadier General A.I. Getso, the Garrison Commander, applauded LERSA’s leadership for their vigilance and community-driven approach. He reaffirmed the Army's commitment to protecting lives and property within its area of responsibility and assured the delegation of open lines of communication and rapid response collaboration.
The very interactive and candid engagement had in attendance the Chairman of the LERSA Board of Trustees, members of the LERSA Executive Council as well as Chairpersons of some of LERSA's frontline estates.
The meeting ended on a high note, with both parties agreeing to establish a liaison framework for regular security reviews and coordinated actions aimed at sustaining peace across the Lekki Peninsula.
