LERSA LEADERSHIP PAYS COURTESY VISIT TO ZONE 2 POLICE COMMAND, SEEKS STRENGTHENED PARTNERSHIP FOR LEKKI SECURITY

The leadership of the Lekki Estates Residents and Stakeholders Association (LERSA) today paid a working visit to the Zone 2 Police Headquarters in Onikan, Lagos, reaffirming its commitment to a collaborative security framework for the Eti-Osa and Lekki-Epe axis.
Despite early morning rains, the LERSA delegation arrived at the command and was received by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG Moshood Olohundare Jimoh, and the Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Adamu Mohammed Bello.
In his opening remarks, LERSA President, Alhaji Chief Sulyman Bello, emphasized that the visit was aimed at strengthening the existing relationship and operational collaboration between the association and the zonal command, while also congratulating the former Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, on his well-deserved appointment as the new AIG.
Prince Adewale Taorid Ojora, Chairman of the LERSA Security Committee, underscored the urgency of establishing a sustainable security framework for the Lekki Peninsula. He disclosed that the committee is currently developing a comprehensive security database to monitor and maintain records of artisans, domestic staff, and frequent visitors to residential estates. This initiative, he added, is designed to enhance traceability and bolster crime prevention across the axis.
Dr. Jubril Dosunmu, Chairman of the LERSA Health Committee, raised concerns over the recurring arrest of medical practitioners due to unavoidable circumstances encountered during emergencies, describing the trend as deeply troubling and requiring urgent policy attention. He pointed out that if medical practitioners continue to be arrested, they might begin to practice defensive medicine due to the fear of fatalities during the line of duty. He called for clearer operational guidelines and stronger legal protections for health workers operating in high-pressure environments.
In his response, DCP Adamu Mohammed Bello commended the association for its proactive engagement and pledged the full support of the Zone 2 Command. He reiterated AIG Moshood Olohundare Jimoh's commitment to deepening community-police relations and assured the delegation that their concerns would be given due consideration.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Vice-President of LERSA, Pastor Odozimba Uche Iheakanwa, who expressed appreciation to the Zone 2 Police Command for its warm reception and continued partnership.
The visit marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between residents and law enforcement agencies, as LERSA continues to champion sustainable security interventions across the Lekki Peninsula.
